
Resource Services
Mission Statement
Resource Services of the Vanderbilt Library exists to acquire, preserve, and provide bibliographic
access to library materials; to support automated library operations and information management; and to manage off-site storage of selected library materials. The development and provision of these services
is in cooperation with library divisions. The mission of Resource Services is to expedite and enhance
information access for the university community.
Goals
- To acquire and process library materials as requested by library divisions in an efficient and cost effective manner.
- To describe the libraries' materials and collections in a manner which maximizes library user access to the libraries' holdings.
- To provide automation support for library functions which will enhace the libraries' operations.
- To provide mechanisms through which the libraries' efforts to preserve library materials can be enhanced.
- To provide appropriate facilities and services for storage and retrieval of library materials selected by the libraries for remote storage.
- To collect and disseminate management information related to library operations in a timely fashion.
- To improve services based upon regular review of the needs for and the evaluation of services offered by Resource Services teams to the library divisions.
- To maximize staff involvement and participation in the development of Resource Services operations.
- To provide communication and education related to Resource Services activities and functions.
