Cost Study Purpose

The several library technical services operations are interested in better understanding time allocations for the various functions within their operations over time. Through periodic samplings of time and related costs, we expect to have improved historical information on which to make decisions on staffing and other resource allocation.

We are also interested in gathering data that we can compare with other institutions. In this Cost Study effort we are working with Iowa State, Cornell, University of California at Santa Barbara, and University of Missouri-Kansas City, using the methodology originally developed by Dilys Morris at Iowa State.
