Charging Patrons for Lost BooksTo determine what to charge a patron for a book he/she has lost, Circulation staff will take the following steps in this sequence:
1) Check Books in Print.
2) If not found in BIP, check BookFinder or other appropriate used book sources.
3) If not found in the above sources, assign a default value of $45, unless the book is in Latin American studies (if published prior to 1950) or art. In these cases Circulation will ask the appropriate bibliographer to determine the price. If Circulation feels that the default price may be too low because of imprint date or other characteristics of a book in any discipline, they will consult with the appropriate bibliographer. In all cases we will add a $35 processing fee to the replacement cost.
