Responsibility for Reference Materials

Subject bibliographers are authorized to order materials for the reference collection in their disciplines.

If the material to be added pertains chiefly to one or more subjects within the bibliographer's area of responsibility and is of usual and customary cost, the bibliographer should place the order and charge the item to the appropriate subject fund.

If the material is unusually expensive or interdisciplinary in nature, the bibliographer should refer the item to the Head of Reference, who will make a purchase decision. Purchases of such materials will be charged to the appropriate reference fund.
