IntranetWare Version 4.11 Servers
The library relies on network servers to provide access to software applications and for storage of data. The network was initially built using Novell NetWare 3.11 servers. That version of the operating system was released in about 1991. We will be upgrading all the library servers to Novell IntranetWare 4.11, the current version of this operating system.

Reliability: We expect IntranetWare to be even more stable and reliable than the previous version. IntranetWare provides a unified network environment.

Single login for multiple servers: All the servers and users are organized through a single database, called Novell Directory Services or NDS. This database controls which servers, directories, files and printers each user may access. The user logs into the network, rather than into individual servers. This design allows users to gain access to resources dispersed on multiple servers more easily.
