NT Implementation Trainers: Orientation Session

Part I

1) Role of the Trainers/Coordinators?

  • a. appointed by division directors to help convert to NT
  • b. NT was chosen and approved of by Management Council
  • c. Hardware has already been upgraded (Pentiums etc...)
  • d. Changes in backend servers have already been made in the public environment--now it will proceed to staff.

    2) Why are we doing this?

  • a. Windows 3.1 is becoming obsolete.
  • b. Windows 3.1 is 5 or 6 years old
  • c. New alternatives now available
  • d. Windows NT vs Windows 95

    3) What will be the process for deploying migration?

  • a. Divided into groups of 4-8 staff people
  • b. Convert one group in a day
  • c. Make sure that staff have all necessary applications with full functionality

    4) What will the new environment look like?

  • a. Marshall unveils the new desktop.

    Part II

    4) How will the trainers assist in this process?

  • a. advance training and assistance
  • b. assistance for day of conversion
  • c. continuing assistance after NT is up and running

    5) How will trainers learn about NT?

  • a. Orientation sessions
  • b. classes
  • c. self learning---NT will be set up in training room for this purpose

    6) What are the responsiblites of the trainers?

  • a. Coordinators vs. trainers:
  • 3. Trainers will work with their coordinators to customize training needs for individual libraries

    7) Where do we go from here?

  • a. Implementation schedule--Management first
  • b. Look and Feel session ---sign-up sheet
  • c. Meeting of Coordinators to solidify training directions--sign up sheet
