Surplus Computer Dispersement Project

The Library Technology Team for the last year has stored surplus computer workstations that have been taken out of service at the Library Annex. Work is underway to take all the necessary steps to transfer all this equipment out of the library.

All functional computers will be donated to: 1.)other University Departments, 2.) to Libraries that participate in Project Athena, or to 3.) Virtual Schools for placement in Metro Pubic Schools. The University Press has requested one 486 computer which was picked up on July 15, 1998.

The following Nashville Libraries have requested 486-based computers:

Nashville Public Library (wants 66Mhz or better). Requested 10 systems.
Williamson County Library. Requested 8 systems. Picked up on July 16.
Fisk University. Requested 8 systems. Picked up in early July.
Austin Peay State University. Requested 4 systems.

The steps include: Creation of a Database that identifies all equipment transferred out or discarded.
