The Jean and Alexander Heard Library
Reminder about EVERYONE directory

This is the text of the email message sent on July 7, 1997. The files will be removed by 5:00, on July 31.

There is a folder on library1 called EVERYONE. This folder is available to all library staff that use this server and can be used as a temporary place to put files that need to be shared with others that also use this server. files put in this directory are not safe. they can be deleted or modified by anyone.

files have been building up in this area since this server was first put into service. I believe that we need to go ahead and clean it out. Most of the files there are quite old.

You should never place anyting in the Everyone directory without keeping a copy in your personal directory or some other shared directory.

For the purposes of housekeeping, I will remove the entire contents of the EVERYONE directory on July 31.

The directory will still be there for temporary sharing of files, but please remove them afterward.

As always, let me know if you have questions or concerns.

thanks,

Marshall
