It is important to develop formal ways to recognize and reward staff for excellent performance. To address this need, the University Librarian has established a merit pool to provide additional salary funds for staff who have made substantial contributions to the work of the library over the previous year.

This form is intended to help Supervisors provide the Merit Award Selection Committee with detailed information regarding the employee’s contribution. As you fill out the nomination form, consider these points:

• The major accomplishments of the nominee over the past year.
• The contributions or service that the employee has provided to the team/unit/division, the Heard Library, or the University.
• The positive impact the employee has had on the work environment or atmosphere.
• Development activities or implemented changes that have significantly improved the workplace or the employee’s duties.
