Sirsi "Unauthorized" Settings
Sirsi matches these subfields in a bibliographic record against the authority file to determine whether a heading is authorized or unauthorized. Subfields not listed here are not checked against the authority file. See below for more details –- PW, 1/10/2005

This represents very limited authority control requirements. However, it does not mean that an authority record for much greater control can't exist and be used by the system for validation. It means that the STAMP “Unauthorized” won't appear unless it can't find a matching authority record for at least these fields and subfields if they exist in the heading. For example, if your 710 had an “a” and a “b” subfield but the authority record was only for the “a” the stamp will appear. If you have an “a” and a “t” subfield and have an authority record for the “a” the stamp will not appear. Also we will not get a stamp (and therefore the heading won't appear on a list) for typographical errors in subfields on the heading like |z Untied States (a very common typo).
