Resource Services staff are located in three buildings. The Baker Building, under third party lease management, houses Library Information Technology Services, Administration, and Order Services. The General Library Building which houses Preservation and Cataloging and Authorities, is managed by the Office of the University Librarian with hours as defined by the Central Library which has responsibility for the building opening and closing. The Annex is managed by Resource Services with the Annex Team itself establishing access privileges in conjunction with the Associate University Librarian.
At the RS Management Team yesterday we decided to form a task force to study the question of building access issues for staff. Because of our two locations, the study will need to address both Baker staff and GLB staff. Would you be willing to serve on this task force? Mary Charles, would you be willing to chair it?
We'll want you to understand the issues involved, why the policies are the way they are, determine what the staff concerns are, and suggest ways in which staff needs and concerns might be addressed within the constraints of building operations. I'll prepare a more detailed charge for distribution as the task force membership is finalized. We would hope that the task force could report back to the RS Management Team by April 1.
