RSIG MINUTES
2/16/00
PRESENT: Susan Bell, Nancy Boggess-Korekach, Zora Breeding, Sue Davis, Peg Earheart, Sylvia Martin, Monica Sanchez, Mary Ellen Wilson
PATRON REQUESTS: Mary Ellen distributed and explained a new routine for PATRON REQUEST material. This procedure will apply only to the Central Library at this time.
WORKFLOW "BUBBLES": Zora presented some definitions for locations used in ACORN. Locations defined were: CAT-WKTL, AT-BINDERY, BK-REPAIR, IN-PROCESS. Definitions also included where to request the material. There was some discussion on IN-PROCESS. There seems to be some inconsistency in its use having to do with the hyphen. ACTION: Nancy will run a report to see what other processing centers use the IN-PROCESS location, and whether or not a hyphen is inserted. Mary Ellen will define locations that are specific to OS.
PSEUDO PATRONS: Sue noted that the pseudo-patron document on the web needs to be updated. Sylvia commented that there is another such document in the G directory (RS) that has been updated more recently, but it, too, should be looked at for necessary changes. ACTION: Sylvia will update this document in both locations.
OFFLINE RETURN: Peg and Sylvia reported on their meeting with Janet Thomason where circulation before cataloging of Annex material was discussed. (Requests would involve only those from ILL.) The meeting resulted in an agreement to a six month trial period for circulation of ILL requests before cataloging. Material will go directly from the Annex to ILL, and upon return, be sent to cataloging. ACTION: Peg will write up procedures for this 6 month trial project. She will also be responsible for keeping statistics of the amount of material requested.
HELGUERA BOOKS: Sue and Peg noted that the Helguera gift collection has been returned from TX where it underwent a cleaning process. The first two boxes of weekly shipments has already been sent to cataloging. There was some concern expressed about the way the books were packed. Zora said that some duplication has been found. A 500 note, designating the collection, will be added to the bibliographic record.
PROMPTCAT FILES: Mary Ellen reported that, with the help of Dale Poulter's expertise, BNA and YBP records can now be loaded automatically.
RE-INDEXING: Nancy reported that re-indexing should be completed by 2/22/00.
NEXT MEETING: Wed., 3/1/00, 2:00, Baker
