June 6, 2001 RSIG Meeting Minutes

All members were present except for Peggy Earheart.

1. NetLibrary Records: The new batch of NetLibrary records are now edited and ready to load. RSIG discussed when would be a good time to do so. Nancy will talk with Mary Charles about her preference for loading the 10,973 records in one single or split batches. Nancy also will discuss the technical side of this same question with Dale. The old records, which will be replaced by this new load, will all be removed prior to loading the new ones.

2. New Option for Charging/Discharging in U2000: RSIG discussed the effects of the proposed change(s) to Acorn's charging/discharging policy. Because Technical Services uses this circulation function heavily for tracking purposes, especially in the Preservation Team, and is very interested in the outcome, RSIG recommends testing out the various options. Nancy will work with Anne Laws, who is coordinating the library-wide discussion.

3. Offline Return Statistics: After additional discussion and better understanding from where the numbers are derived, RSIG feels any discrepancies in the statistical reports are not major enough to merit further investigation.

4. Updates: There were few updates because the RSIG meeting fell so soon after monthly reports were submitted. The news did include: Susan announced that the first box of textbooks (part of a state program) arrived at the Education Library. Mary Ellen mentioned that there were lots of incoming materials as a result of year end ordering. Roberta reminded the group of the TennShare program scheduled for Friday, June 8 in the GLB Electronic Classroom.

Tentative date of the next RSIG meeting is 6/27.
