Morris Wachs Collection Cataloging Procedures

Pre-processed materials in this collection are stored in boxes in the Baudelaire Center. Yvonne Boyer will deliver boxes of books to CAT and will be notified when books are cataloged and ready to return to the Center.

The Baudelaire Center will retrieve books and be in charge of typing flags and dealing with bookplates.

The first books were delivered to CAT on Jan. 22, 2004. Our goal is to catalog the collection in about a year's time.

The total number of Wachs titles is 581 and the total number of volumes is around 1000.

Any dups will be added.

Don Jones, Ann Ercelawn, Jeff Taylor, Becky Atack and Ann Barnette will work on the project.

Wachs books will need:

• 500 note with wording: Morris Wachs Collection.
• 541 field with wording: Wachs
• cat 1 code: 341-BAUD
• cat 2 code: GIFT
• circ flag: unchecked (noncirculating)
• a printout showing the call number inserted in finished item
• 2 barcode set clipped to the printout

In CAT, the pre-processed Wachs books will be shelved on the far left of the shelving range on the wall across from Michael's desk. The top 4 shelves (not counting the topmost which is too high to reach easily) will be used for pre-cataloged Wachs books. The bottom shelf will be used to shelve the finished volumes.

When the bottom shelf is full, we will notify Yvonne to pick up the books and deliver another box full.
