Project to replace URLs in Lecture Notes in Computer Science records
Add the url to the Acorn record.
Call up record on Acorn.
-Title search "Lecture
notes in computer science" brings up over 2000 records. Scroll down here to find the first title with
no url.
-A series search on "lecture notes in computer
science" will bring up a browse list which is not helpful because it begins
with no.1 and the available urls do not begin until a much later number. It is possible to do it this way,
but it will be necessary to find the starting point of available urls.
-Another way is to do a keyword
search on the phrase (enclose in ‘ ‘) ‘lecture notes in computer science’ and
limit the search to 1999-2002. This would get the titles since we began
paying for access. There are 800+ of these.
Copy the OCLC number from the "key" field. Copy just the accession number
portion of the information: ocm50510771 -- copy only 50510771.
Switch to OCLC and paste the OCLC
accession number in the home position preceded by an asterisk: *50510771 and
hit F11 to bring up the record.
Page down to the 856 field. Copy just the |u portion of the url -- do not
include the |u, start with the http://
Ex: 856 41 |u http://link.springer-ny.com/link/service/series/0558/tocs/t2484.htm |z
Restricted to Springer LINK subscribers
Copy only: http://link.springer-ny.com/link/service/series/0558/tocs/t2484.htm
Switch to Acorn. Add a field at the end of the record before the local 9xx fields.
Type 856 into the tag and 41 into the indicator portion. Type |u at the beginning of the text
field. Paste the url after the |u.
Add a 506 field to the record with the wording: Internet access
restricted to Vanderbilt users. (indicators
are blank)
If there is no 530 field already in the Acorn record, add a 530
field with the wording: Also available
via the World Wide Web, or, Also available via the Internet.
