Patron Requests Submitted to Rushcat Mailbox

The CATs responsible for checking the rush mailbox will:

  1. print out the request
  2. find the book and stick the printout of the email request, the Patron Request flag and the Hand Deliver flag in the book
  3. place the book on a cataloger's desk
  4. forward the rush request to the cataloger
  5. follow up to make sure the cataloger did arrive to deal with the request
  6. follow up to make sure the cataloger remembered to respond to the patron

The person cataloging the book will:

  1. decide if the book is to be cataloged or sent without cataloging
  2. if cataloged, decide if the book is to be Marked or not
  3. respond to the patron about when the book will be ready for pick-up, and copy the circ desk of the library being sent to

If cataloged and marked:

  1. respond to the patron, copying the circ desk of the appropriate library

If cataloged and NOT marked:

  2. add 952 note with wording: Patron Request: sent directly to (Library) (date) (your initials)
  3. Stamp with ownership stamp on verso (back) of title page, centered at the bottom of the page taking care not to cover printing.
  4. Initial and date a Patron Request Streamer, then wrap it around the front cover of the book. Take care to tape the streamer tightly to itself, and not to the book
  5. Discharge the item to In Transit and give to Delivery Liaison to be walked directly to the Circulation Desk of the appropriate library. OR, if the item is sent by Messenger, discharge the item to In Transit, place in package marked RUSH/PATRON REQUEST, initial and date.
  6. respond to the patron about when the book will be ready for pick-up, and copy the circ desk of the library being sent to

  3. Stamp with ownership stamp on verso (back) of title page, centered at the bottom of the page taking care not to cover printing.
