Collection Manager and GOBI ordering

What to order, where to order it

Collection Manager:

Any order presented to OS on a Blackwell's selection slip, ordered for Central, Peabody, or Science/Engineering, may be placed using Blackwell's Collection Manager. Also, any order that does not have instructions/incentive to order elsewhere may be placed on CM if the title is available there. See exceptions, below.

GOBI:

Any order presented to OS on a YBP selection slip, ordered for Music, Management, or Divinity, may be placed using GOBI. Also, any order placed for these libraries that does not have instructions/incentives to order elsewhere may be placed on GOBI if the title is available there. See exceptions, below.

The advantage of ordering non-selection slip orders through these vendors, based on library, is that we avoid the potential duplication of forthcoming books/approvals.

WHAT NOT TO ORDER ON CM/GOBI:

Do NOT order on Collection Manager or GOBI if the title to be ordered is an added copy, part of a multi-volume set, ident, or anything that will be added to an existing Acorn record. Ordering on CM/GOBI for these items will result in duplicate records in Acorn.

Do NOT order Level 1or Level 2 priority materials on CM or GOBI. There is no way to separate them out in incoming shipments, and so they may not be processed in a timely manner.

Whenever possible, order from the appropriate vendor based on the library placing the order, as above. Central, Peabody, Music and Science/Engineering have an approval plan with Blackwell's, so any orders placed online for them should be placed on Collection Manager, regardless of who sent us the selection slip. Divinity, and Management have their approval plan with Yankee Book Peddler, and so their online orders should be placed on GOBI.
