Fund ID Numbers

In Acorn, the Fund ID is an 8 digit number. These 8 digits can be broken down into groups of 2, as follows:

XX000000 (LIBRARY)

The first two digits represent the Library. They correspond to LEVEL 1 of the Fund.

01 = Library Administration
05 = VU Electronic Publications
10 = Technical Services Funds
23 = Peabody
24 = Engineering
43 = Law
46 = Management
48 = Biomedical
51 = Music
68 = Divinity
84 = Special Collections
90 = Central
95 = Science

00XX0000 (Material/Order Type)

The second two digits represent the type of material or order. They correspond to LEVEL 2 of the fund. The first of the two digits (XX) represents the format, the second of the two digits (XX) represents the type of order:

When combined, the two digits represent specific formats and order types:

0000XX00 (Subject)

The third group of digits represents the subject area of the material. They are equivalent to LEVEL 3 of the fund, and they correspond directly with the ITEM CAT 1 in the bibliographic record. 000000XX (Type of funding)

These two digits further describe the specific fund, and correspond to LEVEL 4 of the fund. In general, these digits are both "0" for non-restricted funds, though they have also been used to further identify some specific approval funds within given subject areas (ex. 90018312 = Spanish/Portugues Inca Approvals).

Numbers from 1 to 50 have been used in the past for endowed funds, 50 and higher have been used for non-endowed funds.
