Rush Rotation

Order Services

Order Services currently has 3 receivers who work in a rotation processing priority materials (Angel, Sherry, and Suzanne). They have two main responsibilities during their week:

1. Process materials on the Level 1/RUSH shelf in the Baker Mailroom:

Level 1 materials are usually ordered one item at a time from the publisher or a distributor.  As these arrive in the mailroom, they are opened and placed on a shelf that is marked for the Level 1 material.  In addition, nearly all shipments of 5 or less are placed on this shelf, in the assumption that the materials are likely to be high priority. Shipments marked Rush (whatever the source) are also placed on this shelf. These materials are given priority over other receiving.
Receivers should be alert to the priority level of the material being processed. For further processing instructions, see Priorities by Level document.

2. Process materials that are requested for priority processing via the RUSHACQ mailbox.

In general, these are Patron Requests for materials that are On Order or In Process within Order Services. The receiver should check the RUSHACQ mailbox first thing in the morning, and periodically throughout the day. The timing of this activity should allow for processing in time for the next messenger pickup.

For specific procedures for the handling of these requests, see Requests submitted to TS Rush Mailboxes
