Updating NC Records in OS

The following items are currently being re-searched in Order Services:

1. RUSH orders (on receipt) with NC records.
2. Approvals with NC PromptCat records. These records are recognized by the 040: OCL|OCL.
3. Effective March, 2003, all other NC records, upon receipt.

As these records are re-searched in Order Services, the following codes should be used to indicate that the material has been researched, and the type of record found. (The following examples assume that the 951 already indicates "NC"):

INSERT the following information:

(new code);initials;date(mmddyyyy);

MC;ms;03132003;NC

CC;ms;03132003;NC

LC;ms;03132003;NC

or, if there is still no record in OCLC:

NC;ms;03132003;NC (also insert NC flag in the book, with your initials and date re-searched)

Please note that, in order for this information to be picked up in reports, it must appear as above, separated by ";".

If, upon re-searching the record, the title may be speed cataloged, insert:

lu;ms;NC

In the case where a record has been overlaid AND speed cataloged, add a 954 field with the monthyear listed, e.g. 032005. This will allow Marcive processing.

If the SmartPort record carries a 948 field ("NO HOLDINGS IN TJC"), this field should be removed.
