SORTING PAPERBACK MONOGRAPHS FROM CATALOGERS'
SHELF AND BAKER SHELF
1. Remove paperback books from catalogers' or Baker shelves and place on
a book truck by date received. Process older materials first.
2. Sort out by branch libraries and by each libraries preferences and appropriate
binding methods. Insert binding instruction flags as needed.
3. Count remaining Central books.
4. Sort out which Central books will go directly to the bindery and which
will go directly to the marking shelves. SET ASIDE ADDED VOLUMES. Sort Central
books headed to bindery into appropriate binding method stacks and insert
instruction flags, i.e. Sew-Thru-Folds.
5. When done sorting into separate binding and marking stack, count Central items going to bindery and give number to Machelle.
6. Charge items going to bindery to 215070.
7. Put Economy, branch library custom, Central book-jacket custom on appropriate
shelves in Machelle's area.
8. Put Central custom books on trucks to await LINCPlus input.
9. Put mylar, pamphlet or copi-cover on shelves in "back room"
sorting by library and binding type.
10. Charge marking items to 215062 and give to Ann to add to marking shelves.
11. Give added volumes previously set aside to Machelle.
Tip: Items slated for automatic binding include thick, heavy books, spiral
bound books, Reference items, Arts books, pamphlets, damaged or fragile items,
etc.
