The Mathews Co. manages the Baker Building and handles all maintenance and housekeeping duties. If necessary, contact them at 467-6515.

PROCEED WITH EVACUATION IF NECESSARY. Staff requiring special assistance should be evacuated to a stairwell landing. VUPD will assist persons with disabilities to leave the building. After leaving the Baker Building, gather in the Terrace Place Garage following the prescribed exit route. Team leaders will ascertain that all team members are accounted for. No one will re-enter the Baker Building until an official all-clear is given.

During weather-related emergencies, such as tornadoes, proceed down the stairs to the basement. Wait there for the all-clear signal. Do not go outside.

USE THE STAIRS TO EVACUATE THE BUILDING. During any building emergency, the elevators will return to the first floor and shut down. There is emergency lighting in the stairwells.

FYI: The fire alarms will ONLY sound throughout the entire building if the whole building is actually involved in the emergency. For a localized emergency, the alarms will sound on the floor involved and on the floors above and below that floor (all of the garage floors are one zone). The alarms include a siren and voice broadcast which will continue to sound in the emergency area until the system is reset. There are dampers in the ductwork that will close to prevent smoke from spreading.
