PROCEED WITH EVACUATION IF NECESSARY. We are responsible for evacuating the TS Cataloging and Preservation teams on the 4th level of the GLB. The Preservation team work areas on level 8 will be evacuated as part of Central Library's plan.
If you are in another area of the building when the alarm sounds (e.g. the staff lounge or the stacks), cooperate with that area's evacuation. Do not attempt to return to the workroom to retrieve personal items. Do not use elevators.
The evacuation monitor(s) should check each workstation and the conference room, since it is not possible to see everyone by visually scanning the room. Also, the alarm is not loud enough to hear in the Binding/Marking room when equipment is running. A monitor should verbally notify the staff in that area to evacuate. Make sure that all doors are pulled closed so that the workroom is secured.
Persons leaving through the exits on the campus side of the building should assemble on Library Lawn. Those exiting down the southeast stairwell should assemble on Divinity Lawn to the north of the building. After evacuation do not linger near the building; stand some distance away. Do not attempt to re-enter the building until given an "all-clear" by a uniformed VU police officer or a designated building monitor.
