McNaughton Adult Book Plan
aka Brodart Leisure Reading Books

Since Oct 1, 2006, the Central Library is getting pre-processed books for Leisure Reading from McNaughton (a division of Brodart). These books are "on loan" and intended to be returned to McNaughton when we decide we no longer want them in Leisure Reading.

These books are delivered directly to Cental Library and are ready for the shelves. Central staff notify Order Services that the books have arrived and Order Services loads the associated records. That is all the processing that they will get.

The books should not come through TS.

The books will not be cataloged.

The records for these books will remain separate from any other TS records, even when they duplicate.

The records for these books will be removed at the time Central withdraws the books from Leisure Reading.

Disclaimer: keeping these records separate is the intent, but some records will be merged, mainly because staff will not recognize that the records are for these McNaughton Leisure Reading books and will attempt to "correct" the cataloging.

Please see the OS procedure which includes an example of one of these records and how to recognize them as part of this new Leisure Reading agreement with McNaughton/Brodart.
