Technical Services Priority Processing

Procedure: Level 3

Processing for Level 3:

This group consists of routine materials. As Technical Services is not currently sending materials to the Inventory, materials at this level of processing will be processed as expeditiously as possible.

• Bibliographers:
  • If no other priority is assigned, the default processing will be "Level 3".
    • If the bibliographer desires the requester's name to be entered into the record, but they are not to be notified, the bibliographer should include the requester's name, and check the "add name but do not notify" box.
    • Orders may be submitted by e-mail or campus mail.
• Verification:
  • On receipt in OS, requests will be dated and placed in the appropriate bin in Verification. These requests will be processed as quickly as possible by Verification, and placed in the regular bins for ordering, OR may be placed on Collection Manager (for Central and Science) or GOBI (for Peabody, Divinity, Management and Music). See "Manually processing an order request" for further instructions on noting the bibliographic record.
• Ordering:
  • Orders for Level 3 are given routine processing in OS.
• Receiving:
  Routine materials are processed in the order in which they are received in OS.
  • Materials speed cataloged in OS will be flagged appropriately, charged, and sent directly to Marking/Binding.
  • Uncataloged materials will be placed on the appropriate shelves in OS for routing to cataloging.
  • NOTE: Divinity and Music materials (which are not cataloged by TS) will be sent directly to the cataloger in that library, appropriately charged and flagged.
• Cataloging:
  
  • Routine materials are processed in the order in which they are received in Cataloging, at the appropriate cataloging level. Materials are then routed to Binding or Marking, as appropriate.
• Marking/Binding
  • Routine materials are labeled in the order in which they are received.
  • Level 3 materials may be sent to the bindery.

   

Flags: There are no priority flags for this level of processing.
