Procedure For Backing Up Disks for Central and Science Libraries

ACQUISITIONS

1. Treat as priority
2. Flag any receipt with accompanying disks (or stand-alone disks)
3. Clip bar codes for both piece and disk to material
4. Charge and route for cataloging

a. If disk comes on standing order/subscription, send to subject cataloger

CATALOGING

1. Edit records to allow for disk
2. Print out bib record to accompany disk
3. Create holding and item records for piece and disk
a. Clip extra bar code to sleeve
4. Write call no. on sleeve for disk and place disk in it

a. If for Sci, include location above call no.

5. Place in designated space in binding/marking area  

PRESERVATION

1. Charge to preservation
2. Back-up disks
3. Attach bar code to disk
4. Write call no. on back-up disk sleeve
5. Input to data base tracking
6. Attach copyright statement to disk sleeve
7. Route to appropriate library (Cen or Sci) in disk sleeve
