January 2000 Meetings Summary
Members of the Committee are: Lisa Terranova (Chair), Mary Beth Blalock, Gretchen Dodge, Gayle Grantham, Julie Loder, Dale Manning, Debra Quarles and Suellen Stringer-Hye
The Staff Development Coordinating Committee met twice in January. Meetings were held on January 4 and January 25.
Brown Bag schedule
Mary Beth Blalock announced the possible date for the Information Alliance spring meeting as May 4th. She will wait to see what kind of feedback she gets before a final date is set. An alternate date of May 10th was being considered. Suellen mentioned that May 10th was being considered as a possible date for the forum. Members felt that these events should not be held in the same week so that more people could attend both meetings. Mary Beth will keep everyone posted.
After much thoughtful discussion, the library forum topic has changed. The new topic will be the "future of our library" with panelist discussing issues such as collection development, electronic publishing, etc.
Lisa reported that the Merit Award Survey was included in the January 17th Library Newsletter. At this time, she had received 44 responses to the Merit Survey and is working on tallying the results. More responses are expected.
It was decided that in the future, this committee could meet every other week. Therefore, the next meeting will be February 8th. Also pertaining to future meetings is the need to consider new candidates to the committee, as some current members will be rolling off.
