August 2000 Meetings Summary
Members of the Committee are: Lisa Terranova (Chair), Mary Beth Blalock, Gretchen Dodge, Gayle Grantham, Julie Loder, Debra Quarles and Suellen Stringer-Hye
The Staff Development Coordinating Committee met three times in August. Meetings were held on August 1st, 15th, and 29th. The primary business of the first two meetings was to prepare the report Lisa Shipman and Suellen Stringer-Hye presented to the Library Management Council on August 21 and 28. The report provided a brief background of the committee's charge. It primarily addressed our immediate concerns about technology training and evaluated the Library Staff Forum, among other issues.
Lisa and Suellen brought back from the directors several suggestions, which we discussed at length at the third meeting. The essential change in technology training will be to target needs and have the classes based on staff needs. The Library Staff Forum will continue next year in the same format. The committee will oversee the management of the event more closely.
Gayle Grantham concluded her term of membership on the committee this month. It was agreed that our meeting time be changed to 10:15.
