Staff Development Coordinating Committee

May 1998 Meetings Summary

A brown bag on the UTK Distance MLS program was held on May 14. After the brown bag, UT announced that they will start a new class in the fall of 1999. Several staff indicated that, had they known, they would have participated. If there is enough interest, the program may be presented again. Paul Gherman and Flo Wilson will present a brown bag on Iris and Athena.

Mary Beth received a call from New Horizons who indicated they are now the preferred vendor for Vanderbilt. Technology classes are $65 and may be paid for with a Vanderbilt Small Purchase Order.

After discussion in the committee and presentation to the LMC, it was confirmed that Dale Manning is the new member of the committee and Laura Power will assume chairmanship. These changes will occur in July.

Other issues addressed during May were the glossary update, the awards program, the LTT Coordonator proposal. It was determined that we should send out a survey to staff regarding the awards program, and Laura agreed to work on the draft.
