Staff Development Coordinating Committee

October 1998 Meetings Summary

Meetings held, Oct. 1, 6, 13, 2 Much of the month was spent revising and updating the proposals for the Recommendations for Staff Awards Programs. There may be a problem with timing of the awarding of the Innovation/Creativity award in the fall, and presentation at the spring event may be an alternative. Laura will take the proposals for both the Acorn Notes and the Innovation/Creativity Awards to the LMC meeting on November 2.

Mary Beth worked with the Information Alliance chairs at UT and UK, and they ruled out a fall meeting. They point towards a spring meeting with Iris updates, counterpart meetings among other things possible topics.

Debra volunteered to help Laura and Elaine with setting up Brown Bags. There will be a brown bag on Community Giving in which Byrd Helguera will speak about her experiences with the United Way. Sue Davis will also repeat her workshop on pests and mold .

Upon request, Sue Davis recommends the purchase of the Soaring to Excellence program on disaster planning, and Elaine ordered it in time to get the early bird discount. Judy Carter was asked to review the Infosource CD on Excel, and she recommended buying it. Suellen will contact the company about possible discounts.

With Lisa Barksdale's resignation, it was suggested that Judy Carter may be able to help with the markup of our minutes, opportunities board, and Judy agreed to help us.

Laura will make a budget request for $2,000 to Paul for the 1998/1999 year. No amount had been formally agreed on for this year.
