The LMC approved the Awards proposal document. There were no negative responses, though there were some concerns expressed regarding participants' names being advertised. The committee may review the Merit Increase guidelines to see if any changes may be necessary to the document.
Necessary steps needed to implement the awards: Acorn Notes need to be designed and printed and publicity generated. It was suggested that the Notes be designed in-house and be printed at Kinko's. Gail will work with Elaine Goleski on the design of the Notes and Laura and Debra will work together to produce a form for the Innovation Award. Laura will talk to Paul Gherman about writing an article for the Staff Newsletter. The Acorn notes should be ready by the time that the announcement of the awards is made. Forms will be sent to Division Directors for distribution. Elaine Goleski will look into the details for a supplier for the porcelain Acorns. The committee suggested that at least ten should be ordered. Certificates and plaques for the Innovation Award will need to be acquired. Laura will check with University Publications and Design.
The committee discussed a policy for what should be added to the Staff Development database. Results: blurbs for training sessions, blurbs for video programs, ALA and Solinet announcements and local commercial announcements can be added. Items concerning technology not used in the system will not be added.
Information Alliance: the committee discussed attendance for the proposed November 13 meeting and whether the meeting should take place. Questions were raised about the long-term nature of the Fall meeting. Mary Beth will discuss these matters with Paul Gherman.
Circles: The committee discussed the needs for frequency of training for all the types of training. Next meeting , the Organizational Effectiveness will be discussed.
The next meeting will take place on November 17.
