Small white label with black vertical stripes and numbers used for automated cataloging and circulation; a unique identifier for each volume or piece.
BIBLIOGRAPHERS
Library staff whose responsibility includes the selection of library materials in specific subjects or disciplines.
BIBLIOGRAPHY
Any list of books, journal articles, documents, etc.; may be arranged alphabetically, chronologically, or logically.
BINDERY
A company or department in which books are bound or rebound or where periodicals, serials, etc., are bound together resembling hardbound books.
BIOMEDICAL LIBRARY
Annette and Irwin Eskind Biomedical Library; a division of the library system housing materials in the health sciences.
BIP
Books in Print; a publication or database from R.R. Bowker Company.
BOOK REPAIR LAB
The library's in-house facility for the assessment and repair of damaged library materials. See Preservation Team for additional information.
BROWSER
A computer application program which interprets HTML and presents a final Web page. It is used to navigate the World Wide Web. Examples are Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, and Mosaic.
