- PAL VIDEOTAPES
- PAL is the term used to describe European VCR
readable videos. Many PAL versions are stored in the Annex, and one
can use equipment in the Media Center to view them. The Learning
Resources Center converts PAL versions to VHS.
- PATENT DEPOSITORY
- A collection of U.S. patents located in the
Science and Engineering Library.
- PC
- 1)Public catalog; 2)Personal computer.
- PEGASUS
- The software application the library uses to manage
e-mail.
- PERIODICAL
- A serial publication with determined
frequency, usually more often than annually, with individual
issues in the series being numbered consecutively or each
issue dated and with each issue containing separate articles.
- PHOTOGRAPHIC ARCHIVE
- Archival collection of Vanderbilt
photographs; housed in Special Collections.
- PIA
- See French Collections.
- PRESERVATION
- A multi-pronged approach to long-term care
of the library's collections. It involves preventive care as well as
repair and restoration treatments.
- PUBLIC SERVICE
- The aspect of library work including
assisting patrons in the use of a library and the physical care
of collections to make possible this service; may include
reference, circulation, stack maintenance, and related services.
