- RECALL
- A notice sent out to borrowers which changes the due
date of a borrowed book or other material, usually because it is desired
by another patron.
- RECORD
- An individual entry in a database; for example,
a user record or a bibliographic record.
- REFERENCE
- Library work directly concerned with
assistance to patrons in securing information and in using the
resources of the library.
- RENEW
- To extend the loan period of a book or other material.
- REPORTERS
- Volumes containing opinions of particular courts
or of courts in particular states (Law Library).
- REQUEST FORM
- Form used by faculty, student, or staff
requesting purchase of a book or other library materials.
- RESERVES
- Library materials segregated from the
regular collection because their use is required for students
in a particular course.
- RESOURCE SERVICES
- An operation of the library that provides
services which are related to materials and their use by library patrons
and staff. Comprised of the Annex, the former General Technical Services, and the
Library Technology Team.
- RSIG
- Resource Services Implementation Group; body made up of
representatives from different units of Resource Services charged with
resolving issues of workflow, policy, etc. for Resource Services.
- RUSH
- A label used to indicate material that is to be ordered
and/or cataloged as expeditiously as possible. Any uncataloged material may
be requested by staff or patron for immediate cataloging.
